Pura Vida Resort Room Rates: Php 1,750 to 3,000 for 2 adults (Plus Php 500 for another adult)

For this year's holy week, my family and I thought about going somewhere to reflect and unwind--to get away from the stress at work and get our much-needed breather.

We thought about going to Ilocos, but then since it was only a week before the holy week, we were not able to secure reservations for the trip. It left us with less than a week to plan and find a place to stay for the long weekend. I mean, it's not everyday you get to have a long weekend, so of course I wouldn't want to just spend it at home.

My sister originally had plans to go to Ilocos with her friends, but was cancelled for like, 2-3 days prior to holy week. I decided to speed the process--I looked for resorts near our home just because we didn't have the time to book a trip somewhere, plus it was indeed peak season and were not even positive we can get something those days.

Our first choice was Tagaytay City, because my mom loves the cool air and she doesn't want to go on a road trip for several hours. I called almost all Tagaytay hotels and resorts in there, but they're all fully booked. I looked online--still fully booked. I stretched the location to as far as Batangas and again, still fully booked. Thankfully though, when I called this resort called Pura Vida Hotel & Resort at Tagaytay, they had a room available! Apparently, someone canceled, so we got the room--2 days before we check in. Bliss!!!

I wasn't quite sure how to get there, as I did not take note of it upon reservation. All I know is that it's less than 5 minutes away from Magallanes, Tagaytay City and just before Mendez Crossing. The place actually isn't hard to find, as they have this sign beside the highway, and it is just beside the famous restaurant called Mer-Ben Tapsilogan.

Check-in time is of course standard, which is at 2 pm. Check out time is 12 noon. We got there by 3 pm and immediately checked in the fan room (because it's the only room available). We were 3, so we had to pay an additional Php 500. The fee comes with extra foam, pillow, and blanket. The room was nice and clean. It also has a bathroom with a hot and cold shower, wifi, cable TV, phone and comforters. There are also big windows that will make you appreciate the view. The fan room isn't actually bad because the weather is cool at night, especially when you open the windows.

The place is really really nice. For the price we paid, we actually felt like it was cheap. Pura Vida is truly a home away from home. The bed was extra comfy, there were lots of restaurants nearby, we really didn't have to think of anything but to enjoy the time off and have fun with my family.

The price we paid comes with room accommodation, use of swimming pool and wifi access. Here are photos of the resort:

Overall, my family and I loved our stay here. The food, place, and service is great! Their rate isn't expensive, considering it's a Hotel & Resort located at Tagaytay City. I also loved how my sister and I owned the pool because there weren't as many people swimming--probably because it's freaking cold. If you don't like being cold, I suggest you don't swim from 5 pm onwards. We were there from 5 to 8 pm I guess, and the water was freaking cold habang tumatagal. But it was fun. You'll only feel cold once you go in and get out of the pool. When you're there, it's actually nice to swim because it's cool. Just don't forget your towels or you'll freeze your whole way to your room! :)
