Westlife Live in Manila 2019 | The Twenty Tour at The Smart Araneta Coliseum |
Perhaps every one who is born in the 90's love boybands—including me! And one of the boybands my sister and I grew up listening to and loving is Westlife.
It was back in 2001 when Westlife came here in Manila for the first time for Where Dreams Come True Tour. Back then, I was only 9 years old so I couldn't go.
Then they came back in 2011 (without Brian McFadden) for The Gravity Tour. However, I was still in college back then, so my time and budget did not permit me to get tickets to their show.
Thankfully, these Irish guys finally made their way back in Manila after 8 years and I finally got to see them live for the first time ever!

Westlife Live in Manila 2019 Videos:
Although Westlife disbanded in 2011, the group (sans Brian McFadden) reunited last year to create new music. Hello My Love was then released in 2019, which was followed by a series of shows worldwide for The Twenty Tour (because it's their 20th anniversary!) which includes the Philippines.
You'd think that since it's been two decades since the band rose to international stardom, their fanbase and followers would have decreased, but nope. At least not here in Manila. Westlife sold out the first night of their show in the Smart Araneta Coliseum which prompted the producers to set another night—of which I think sold out again.
It was insane. I saw several posts on social media showing the queues in different branches of ticket stations. I even remember waking up earlier than usual just so I can get an online ticket for myself because the first day was freaking sold out! Yup, I don't mind going to concerts alone, and nope, it's not depressing. I actually consider it my me-time.
Although I found it kind of weird to see the guys dancing and prancing as if they were just in their late twenties, grabe. Shane Filan's voice did not age nor deteriorate! He was belting out the highest notes left and right, and with confidence. And I must say, he is aging really well. He, for me, stood out the most that night. I almost did not feel Brian McFadden's absence. That good. Watch it below and hear for yourself:
